LAUGHTER

This very simple word called "laughter" holds more mysteries that meet the ordinary eye..

 When you hear the word  " laughter", what comes to your mind?

Do you see squinted eyes, creased at both sides with temporary "crowfeet?" Nostrils expanding to inject and eject air?

Lips spread wide and parted to display perfectly or imperfectly-arranged dentition?

Heads thrown back in forceful amusement? Little, glassy trickles trundling down the cheeks?

Or as the case may be, perfectly-edged 'Adam's  apples' bouncing up and down the throat?

O well, such mental pictures quite describe the singular action of laughing, in a relatable way.

Except that, these gestures only project surface meanings  of what the term "laughter" truly entails.

Many at times, such expressions of laughter do not equate to happiness, amusement or merriment.

Sometimes, the person involved has been seriously pierced with daggers of hurt, pain and depression.

Sometimes, emotional turmoil and psychological trauma have hit this fellow right in the balls till the cackling sounds that come from his throat only envelopes inexplicable depths of pain...

However, there is a force, similar to laughter, expressed in form of laughter but surpasses it a million times over.

It comes like a gentle wave, filling up every muscle, every nerve, every vessel in the body , canvassing the soul-touching the very core of the mind and exploding in bodily expressions of dancing, jumping, skipping and roaring in thunderclaps of laughter.

It comes from the spirit!

It slides over pain, overtakes hurt, conquers depression, chokes out sadness and fills up every part of the individual with an overwhelming peace that conquers all contrary emotions.

It is called "joy".

Stronger than amusement, more efficient than merriment-above all, more effective-with a greater staying-power than happiness!

You tell me you're happy. I look at you straight in the eye and tell you "I am joyful"

Because the joy of the Lord is my strength!!
